so realistic. Just a well crafted story all around."
And...
"First, I love Aerogirl's
writing, always have. This story deals with Bud's
injury in a sensitive and compelling way - each character's
thoughts and emotions are fleshed out wonderfully. She

for JAG: “Contemptuous Words,” “Boomerang,” “Enemy Below”
From the Nomination:
"This is a realistic combination of two
great shows - JAG and The West Wing. Harm really could
advise the President's Press Secretary on ramifications of
US policy, and the sparks that fly - in all directions - are
in keeping with the characters on both shows. It gives
Harm flying time, with angst to go with it. And it's
ultimately a shipper story, with an interesting possibility
along the way!"
And...
"This talented author has successfully
produced a crossover of two of my favorite shows - JAG and
West Wing. Much of the story is about the growing
friendship between Harm and C.J. Cregg, two people with very
different backgrounds and political views learning to
understand the other's world. The story also includes
some romance and some suspenseful action."

"Collateral Damage" is a great blend of action, drama, and

laughed the whole way through this one."
And...
"This story is fluff at its finest,
perhaps because it has a tiny bit of actual plot woven into
it. But it's the guffaw-inducing humor that really
makes this story shine; the lines and expressions used
by the characters are all realistic and easy to see in the
mind's eye. This is the story I re-read whenever I've
had a difficult day... It brings a grin to my face and a
song to my heart--a true treasure. (Warning: Do

And...
"Aerogirl is a very gifted author.
Her stories always are very believable, you could easily
believe that they really happened. She is always true
to the context of the characters and of JAG. This
story is set mid season 7. It was written long before
Miss Mattie Grace came into the JAG family. It is

insight into Harm's "pre-JAG" life and what shaped him. As
always, it is beautifully written."

Rating: IM15, Length: 16,000 words (39 pages in

From the Nomination:
"This show takes place early in the
JAG series and portrays the characters at their best.
We see relentless, dogged Harm pursuing the truth, Mac at
her loyal and professional best, and the admiral, gruff, but
stern but trusting of his people. It's beautifully
written, exciting, gut wrenching, and it has one of the most
interesting twists on the ferry scene that I've ever read.
It's a story that I re-read often."
And:
"This is a great story wherein a near
tragedy brings Mac and Harm together. Some very good
character interaction between Harm and the admiral."
And...
"This story is the final show we should
have had. It ties up all the loose ends and gives us
the kind of rousing adventure story we used to get with JAG.
It even made me forgive the admiral (a little), no small
feat!"
And...
"The plot is fascinating and uses the
author's knowledge of aircraft and military culture well.
We also get a glimpse inside the complicated relationship of
Harm and the admiral. With enough angst to make it
believable, but not too much, Harm and Mac get together.
Plus the repeat the scene from Lifeline in a good way!" |

"Much of the real advantage to

likely story lines which we as viewers simply cannot see by
simply watching the show. One of the very best writers of
JAG background story fill is AeroGirl. Her story,
Portraits, expands on young Harm's Vietnam story line. This
story is so generally accepted that many JAG fans are hard
pressed to distinguish it from an actual scene in the TV
series. Honestly, I simply accept it as the correct

Anything after "Ice Queen" and "Meltdown" but before "The

From the Nominations:
"This is the best non-shipper story I
have ever read. It makes sense, and actually allows
H&M some real closure as Harm goes off to make a life with a
law school classmate in the aftermath of Paraguay and the
CIA. Nobody is really the bad guy in the end.
All of the characters are handled sympathetically, but this
is really about Harm finding his place in the world after
his world falls apart. I loved it. Aerogirl does
a marvelous job poking around inside Harm's head and in
Andie she has fleshed out an original character that seems
perfect for Harm."
And...
"Another excellently written story by
Aerogirl with great characters (especially Harm!) once
again. Even though it's not a H/M, this shipper still likes
it with the happy ending for everyone. I loved the
continuation of 'Learning How to Fall' and the different
idea for an ending of the H/M saga. This too is a well
deserved nomination."

warning at the beginning of the story, but since I didn't
know what "Tear Jerker" meant exactly at that time, I didn't
know what to expect. Even if I read it for the
umpteenth time, I melt into tears every time. It's

From the Nomination:
"What if Diane hadn't really died, but
had been spirited off on a secret mission? It might
sound far fetched, but in the hands of these talented
authors it is an excellent believable story that fills in
some of Harm's past and gets him and Mac together."
And...
"Wow, where to begin? First of
all, this is a story that, I think, every shipper has always
wondered: if Diane were still alive, would Harm choose
her.. or, would he realize that Mac is the one his heart
belongs to? This fanfiction solves that dilemma, and
more. While it is a highly emotional story, it also includes
action, as well as humor right at the exact moments it's
needed. Both authors have a very strong feel for the
characters, and it shows; the writing is superb.
A must-read story for every "JAG" fan!"
And...
"This story is a dream come true.
What would happen if Diane came back? It was a stroke
of genius and so well written. The characterizations
were true, and the story was so interesting I couldn't stop

Need I say more?"

And...
"CharS has given us a story that plumbs
the complexities of the personalities known as Harmon Rabb

insults and bitterness and more through painful memories and

From the Nomination:
"This is a great story that begins
with Mac being seriously injured and ends with our heroes
realizing how they feel about each other. Along the
way it explores very personal issues as Harm cares for Mac
after her injury. I couldn't wait to nominate the
story once it was finished. All their doubts, fears
and hopes are explored in a journey from darkness to light.
I know this sounds hokey, but I really loved the story."
And...
"I appreciated how this story reflected
Harm's caring and attentiveness towards Mac when she really
needed him. It is sweet how she relaxes to trust more
and lean on Harm. We get to see Harm in "protective"
mode." |

Imagery is beautiful, the plot is intriguing and well paced,
and it captures the imagination. It is full of romance

And...
"Of the many, many stories I have read
over the years, this story stands out. The verbal
imagery, the feeling of being able to see the landscape of
Ireland, feel the wind, smell the food, and hear the
laughter of the pubs, al through the words of Lauraloo is
something very special, in my humble opinion. The
weaving of the story, of past and present, of real world and
of legend and lore, of Harm and Sarah finally figuring it
out in a magical yet believable way (that is, if you believe
in faeries and spirits!) made this story one to savor and
enjoy like hot chocolate and a warm fire. All I can
say is, Well Done, Lauraloo, and Thank you for sharing."
And...
"Wonderful, beautiful, magical, and
enchanting are a few words that first come to mind about
this story. Mac goes to Ireland on a journey about her
past, and just as she followed Harm to Russia, he follows
her to Ireland. The author has created an intriguing
story filled with romance, mystery, and even a little humor.
This is a heartwarming adventure that you will want to read

extremely clever. This story is unique in the true

Kindness of a Stranger |
|
Classification: Vignette, Rating: GS, Length: 2,700 words (8

From the Nomination:
"The setup of the story requires a
slight suspension of disbelief, but I don't think it was at
all a clumsy solution as the author claims but a good
response to a very real need. The show all too often
put the characters in dangerous and traumatic situations and
then wiped the slate clean immediately or all to quickly in
the case of Mac's killing of Sadik. I think this story
does a nice job of filling in at least one of the blanks.
Mac is portrayed believably and the new character, Jim, is
introduced and woven quickly into the story. As a
reader, I had to laugh when Mac thought to herself that Jim
couldn't possibly understand her situation, but her reaction
made perfect sense in the context of the story. When
he reached across and clasped her hand, that was a very
touching moment and his responses to Mac's anguish were just
wonderful. And the ending was perfect."
And...
"I rarely read a better character piece
than "Kindness of a Stranger." It absolutely fits
Mac's character in all aspects and although it could easily
fit with the show, it's something which I missed, and I
admire Pixie for her work and her ability to say so much in
a few words." |

possibly AO, has plenty of angst & received plenty of
feedback at ff.net. It is also a personal favorite of
mine. Hopefully it qualifies."
And...
"Set after the season eight finale, this
enthralling, somewhat dark tale gives us an alternate take
on season nine and beyond. RinkRat weaves us a tale
that brings us to the edge of our seats and holds us there,
seeing what might have happened if the CIA had decided to
use all of Harm's talents, not just flying. It's
darker than what we usually see in JAG fanfic, well written,
and brought me to tears more than once. I wish we had

From the nominations:
"Beautifully written with
lovely imagery. The author uses language well. The
cliché of painting pictures with words applies here. There
have been lots of 'baby deal' stories and I have enjoyed
many but this one stands out, partly because of the
optimistic beginning that says the problems have been worked
out and partly because of the well done use of flashbacks.
Humor is used well and the zigs and zags our heroes take are
plausible and in character."
And...
"I don't know whether it
was the way she described everything so I could picture it
like I was inside the story, the way the characters were so
believable or the way the storyline switched between the
present and the future. I knew that the story would end a
certain way, but I was all the more interested in seeing how

Classification: JAG story,

Through "Adrift II"
From the Nominations:
"This story fills in many of the
details about what happened to Harm in Vietnam. It
also looks at the nature of family and how complicated it
can be. Plus, both Harm and Mac do some soul searching
and resolve some of their issues."
And...
"Aftermath is a touching story.
It brings a lot of reality into an unexpected situation.
There is a bond between the characters but it is awkward and
unsure and entirely relatable in a way that draws you into
the story and leaves you reading well into the night, unable
to look away from your computer until you have read every
last word."
And...
"Taking off on Harm's backstory, this
is quite possibly the most intelligent, adult portrayal of
Harm in fan fiction. Truly moving with its depiction of his
relationships with others and how they are affected by his
early experiences."
And...
"This story helps Harm grow in
maturity. It also explains why he defends the innocent
over his own well being, and sometimes puts himself in
danger. There is action, and there is also open
honesty about Harm returning to flying, and as always there
are Harm and Mac shipper moments in here. Very good
read, and I think you all will love it."
And...
"This story delves into the past of
Harmon Rabb, explaining why he is the way he is with a great
deal of depth. It also goes into why Sarah MacKenzie
reacts to him the way she does. While starting with a theme
which has been done before by many others, this takes an
adult view of these two people and how both of them, through
the love of an adult child, struggles to mature and be
worthy of the love of the other. I consider it an
honor to nominate it."

From the Nominations:
"This story is what I imagine JAG
Episodes would be like if Harm and Mac had ever been allowed
to get together. There is romance, there is angst,
there is danger, there is teamwork, and there is humor.
Pretty much everything but a good court scene."
And...
"Valerie is an extraordinarily
talented author who brings Harm and Mac to life as living,
breathing adults. This story is based on an original
situation with an exciting plot, but it's the portrayal of
their relationship that makes it wonderful."
And...
"I almost skipped over this story the
first time I came across it because the summary sounded
rather cheesy. I'm so so glad I went ahead and clicked
on the link. I would have missed out on something
awesome. This story is amazingly written, and has one
of the sweetest and most creative wedding scenes ever.
Besides the wonderful romance, humor, action, and angst, it
has the most entertaining character interaction I've ever
read."
And...
"At a time when "reality" shows are
crowding the television waves, this story gives a fresh new
meaning to how sinister they can be while casting Harmon
Rabb and Sarah MacKenzie into the clutches of a madman.
It seems almost comical at first, that these two must
pretend to be what they truly are, but we quickly see how
this game is ripping them apart revealing the truth of their
feelings as they themselves lose sight of what is real, what
is truth, and what is trust. Yet true love does not
solve all as they must still "solve the case," maintain
their integrity and protect their love from overwhelming
temptations and danger. For all who read this story,
get ready for a bumpy but most enjoyable ride."

The characterizations
were true, and the story was so interesting I couldn't stop
until I finished it. Valerie and Aerogirl together.
Need I say more?"

From the Nomination:
"First off, I absolutely love
everything about this fanfiction! Valerie makes you feel
like you're in the cockpit of an F-14, and crying on Mac's
part. She gives the reader greatly described details on what
she's identifying. I've read the story about five times, and
each time I love it a little more than the first.
Congratulations Valerie. This is a well deserved
nomination!!"
And...
"I love this story. It was a
story I read a few months ago. It is a Harm/Mac
shipper story, and it's absolutely one of my all time
favorites., and I do not have many. The author writes great
details on everything being described and makes the story
even more interesting by involving the characters in every
aspect."

|
Classification: Adventure, romance (H/M), Rating: GS
(language), Length: 34,000 words (94 pages in MSWord),
Spoilers: through the beginning of season 7
From the Nomination:
"This is, without a doubt, one of the
best JAG stories I have ever read. It has action,
drama, romance... everything you could possibly want and
then some."
And...
"A rare fic that shows Mac in a
leadership role and not as the victim. An empowerment
to us all."
And...
"This very exciting shipper story grabs
the reader's interest with the first line and takes him/her
on a rousing, nonstop adventure. As the senior officer
standing after an attack on the carrier USS Enterprise, Mac
is thrown into situations never faced by a Marine and a
woman. How she, Harm, and the other sailors and
Marines on board battle to get the crippled ship home makes
for a rousing tale of courage and romance."
And...
"This story has it all - action,
adventure, and romance between Harm and Mac. It also
features one of those rare things - Mac action/heroism in
fanfic, and on the show. It will be worth every minute
it takes to read." |
